Growing our own forest
Thanks to Ecologi, the Wipex Forest is located all over the world! One of the places where we’re contributing to tree planting is in Nicaragua. We’re helping to fund the protection of The Bosawas Biosphere Reserve in Nicaragua. We are honored to help protect and restore over 535 hectares of land (1,321 acres).
This creates sustainable economic opportunities that will restore large areas which have been devastated by illegal logging. The area is renowned for its rich biodiversity and numerous rare or endangered species!
Reducing our carbon footprint
Not only do we have the privilege of helping to plant & protect thousands of CO2e-reducing trees, but in collaboration with Ecologi we’re also working to reduce our carbon footprint and emissions globally.
The Santa Marta Landfill Gas Project is one of the initiatives we have the chance to support. It is located in the heart of one of the most important landfills in Chile. It significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions by capturing, flaring and generating electricity from the methane gas (LFG) produced right there at the landfill.
Helping the earth through local communities
Wipex is supporting local projects that help in other ways, like working to provide clean energy through hydropower in Uganda and restoring CO2e-soaking mangroves in Madagascar. These projects provide social benefits and economic opportunities for local communities.
